Hayfork High School held elections for the Associated Student Body of the 2022-2023 school year.
Lilly Napier, senior, was elected as president. Napier says that she was interested in becoming an ASB officer because she was class president throughout high school and she wants to help the school in any way she can. She plans to encourage the students to have more school spirit and to participate more throughout events, such as by reviving student cheer sections.
Iris Coty, senior, is the vice president. Coty has been an officer for her class since sixth grade and she wants to do something for the whole school. Her goal is to have students express their issues to ASB so she can help solve them.
Mercedes Thao, sophomore, was elected as the secretary. Thao said she wanted to experience more at school and to challenge herself. She wants to pay attention around the school and in meetings so she can take good notes, have more of a leadership role, and overall make the school a better place.
Siena Yang, senior, is the treasurer. Yang was her class treasurer in her junior year and went to many meetings to represent her class and said that she really enjoyed it. She wants to make ASB fun and raise as much money as possible for student events, such as homecoming week.
For the 2022-2023 school year, ASB plans to sell more “Jack-wear,” including short-sleeve shirts, long-sleeve shirts, and sweatpants that can all be personalized. They will also be doing more Jack-pride competitions between the classes this year. “I’m excited for our new leadership team,” said Joanne Tucker, ASB adviser. “It puts them in a position of knowing how to manage a meeting, create enthusiasm around the school, and really learn how to bring together a lot of personalities.”
