The Hayfork High School Prom of 2022, hosted by the Junior class, is getting closer. This year's prom is scheduled to be on May 7, from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. with formal attire required.
This year's prom theme is “Cloud Nine,” with the theme colors of pink, gold, and white. The prom committee has been meeting every week to make final decisions for prom to make decorations and order supplies.
As the prom date approaches, the Junior class prom committee is starting to feel the stress that comes with planning prom. Lilly Napier, Iris Coty, Shiloah Colby, Kimberly Gritts, Siena Yang, Kimberly Lo, and Kaden Lee are on the committee with advisor Karlie Elliott and assistance from Brindi Young. “I think the whole school is excited about prom this year because there hasn't been a prom since the senior class were freshmen!” Elliott said. “I am super proud of all of the hard work the prom committee is putting in to make this a great prom.”
Some activities students can expect at this year's prom are of course dancing, photos, which will be offered from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m., and the King and Queen Coronation at 10:00 p.m. Other attractions expected at prom will be a wishing well, opalescent drinks, cotton candy, popcorn, finger foods, a gift for students to remember their night in the clouds, a place to “slip away into the clouds,” another place to rest your feet and “take a seat in the clouds,” and more surprises students can expect and get excited for.
“I am extremely looking forward to this year's prom that the Junior class is putting on.” said Alexis Smith, senior. “It will be my first prom as a Senior and after being hinted some surprises, I know this will be a good one.”
Although the prom committee of the Junior class is feeling the stress, they are trying to make it one to remember for everyone. “We’re super enthusiastic about prom this year since Hayfork High School hasn’t had a prom in three years. Seeing the process of decorations being made and plans getting put together is definitely a big task to take on but all of our hard work will pay off when we see the beauty of our work put all together,” said Kimberly Lo, junior and committee member. “The ideas and decorations the Prom Committee has planned for this event will make prom night very memorable for many students!”
The Junior class would like to thank people and businesses that have helped out so far donating supplies and more: Bayley's, Wiley's, Hayfork Discount, Ernie's, B&W Bobcat, Kathleen and Ed Dudley, Jacque Tucker, Joanne Tucker, Sunday Stanley, Holiday Inn in Redding, and our Associated Student Body (ASB) for assisting with purchases.
