The HHS media arts class is proud to announce the launching of a community website at www.hhstimberline.com.
The website covers both school and community events, including a Calendar page to easily find the events within the school district as well as a separate community events calendar. Along with the events, the site also features HHS Sports including articles, videos, and photos. A Hayfork Business Directory with hours and phone numbers is also displayed on the site. Viewers can also find a School News page and a Community News page.
Timberline Yearbook Adviser and Media Arts Teacher Joanne Tucker recently received a Career & Technical Education credential to take the traditional yearbook class to the next level, bringing her 14-plus years of industry experience into the classroom. “Providing a website for the school and community will greatly benefit our students educationally by creating a fast-paced, hands-on experience in media," Tucker said. "Our vision is that it can act as a communication and information hub for Hayfork High and the community.”
The media arts class has been working on this site since the beginning of the 2021 school year, coming up with a design scheme, and learning about the importance of consistency in web design and media production. “I am incredibly proud of their persistence to make this student-driven and their work ethic in making this idea become a reality,” Tucker added. “The students of this class provide a great model for and example of our future leaders. I'm impressed every day.”
MVUSD Superintendent and HHS Principal Anmarie Swanstrom said, “This online newspaper has been a much-needed component of the fiber that is Hayfork High School, and now the student voice will finally be heard and accessible to the community, parents and anyone who uses the internet. Good job!”
The students are eager and looking forward to the rest of the year and generating content, using new tools and software programs, and learning about videography, video editing, news writing and editing, web design, photography, and more.
