Timberjacks defeated the Westwood Lumberjacks at the 10/1 football game.

Hayfork played a solid football game on Friday night at home with a winning score of 44-6. The Timberjacks took the opening drive behind solid runs by Trenton Haight (#44) and finished it off with a 1 yard QB sneak by Dakota Mummy (#10) to take the lead 6-0. Westwood came back and scored on the very first play, a 69-yard run making the score 6-6. Hayfork closed out the 1st quarter with a 7 yard TD run by Mummy. Haight scored the 2 point conversion and the score was 14-6.
In the second quarter, Noah Fielding (#30) scored on a 9 yard TD run and also ran in the 2 point conversion, making the score 22-6. Kegan Xiong (#24) kicked the ball into an open area and as the Westwood player was trying to handle the ball, Noah Fielding recovered it. Hayfork quickly scored by Fielding with a 14 yard TD run, and Haight added the 2 point conversion, now making the score 30-6. The Timberjacks ended the half with a 19 yard TD run by Mummy making the halftime score 36-6.
The second half was played with a running clock, and Hayfork finished the scoring early in the 3rd quarter with a 13 yard TD run by Fielding. Devin Nanez (#14) ran in the 2 point conversion, making the final score 44-6.
Defensively, Hayfork had another solid game with 14 tackles behind the line of scrimmage as a team. Dakota Mummy led the team with 13 tackles (9 solos). Trenton Haight had 7 tackles (3 solos) and Andy Yang (#11) had 7 tackles (3 solos). Yang also had the hit of the night on a kickoff in the first half.
Offensively, the Timberjacks spread the wealth. Three players each had over 100 yards rushing. Haight had 16 carries for 104 yards. Fielding had 9 carries for 103 yards and 3 TDs. Nanez had 6 carries for 110 yards, and Mummy had 8 carries for 47 yards and 3 TDs.
Hayfork improves to 2-2 on the season with a league record of 2-0. This was the most complete game we have played all season. “The kids played with intensity and continued to improve. I am proud of their effort,” states the HHS football Coach, Mike Miller. The Timberjacks travel to Beiber this Thursday, October 7th to play the Big Valley Cardinals who are also undefeated in league play. Game time is slated for 5:00 pm.
